October was a bad month for me and I am so glad to see it go and I finally see light at the end of the tunnel. I was bit by a Brown Recluse Spider, and yes, they are posionous and deadly. I got bit on Friday morning and my leg was itchy and red and it looked good through out the day. Just a bit sore. Saturday I still didn't worry about it but then Sunday morning when I woke up I had a 103 fever and my vision was blurry and I was really sick. I had a almost golf ball size ball on my inner thigh where my bite was and I was rushed to the ER and I saw the spider in my bed and it was big and brown but I didn't know it was a brown recluse. So, after the bite was lanced and a drained and few stitches that didn't stay I had a HUGE hole in my thigh were the poision had eaten my flesh away and to make things worse I had a staph infection as my body couldn't handle the bite, etc.. etc.. So,it's taken me until a few days ago to really walk normal instead of a gorilla or a penguin walk. After the 5th antibiotic and a spider antibiotic I am doing much better. It's funny this happened because I HATE SPIDERS!! My Dad was my spider hero and I would scream when I saw one growing up. I am terrified of spiders and at the ER I threw up because I couldn't get it out of my head that I was bit by a brown recluse and the pictures they showed me were horrifying and to see what it did to my inner thigh. I have pictures but won't include the wound. Too gross. I can't even look at my c-section scar with out getting queezzzy.
I was very lucky to catch the bite in time and very lucky to have a strong healthy body to fight off the staph and bite. Jax was amazing. Helping his Mom in so many ways and making such a vast array of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We had strawberry, peach, raspberry, grape and lime jelly for dinner and our neighbors and church friends were great to help us out!!
Halloween was fun! Jax didn't dress up! He was on strike that day but he got lots of candy! I made him a ghost costume but he wouldn't wear it. So, oh well! maybe next year!!
Jax came down this morning crying because he couldn't find his eyebrows. I explained to him where they were and I asked him why so upset about his eyebrows. He got very upset because I couldn't understand and he was sorting through all the laundry and looking in the washer and dryer and then it dawned on me. He wanted his new overalls. I got laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. Jax didn't think it was funny and he SWEARS his overalls are called eyebrows. I still giggle a lot when I think about it and see him with them on today. He is so cute!!!!
The dog with Jax is named Max. So Jax and Max are great fun and get to play every day!! They are a hoot together! Jax asked me this morning if I ever have another baby could I have a puppy! I smiled and told him that would be a most interesting birth and that Mom couldn't have puppies and could only have human babies. His exact words: "Mom! That just really stinks". I gave him a hug and told him that "yes, it does stink because I would love to have a puppy for him". He smiled and walked off! Ah!!! LIFE!!!! :)
