1st cup cake~

I had a big birthday cake planned, etc..etc.. just for the daycare kids and my boys but I haven't been feeling that well lately so I bought cupcakes at the store today and Jax, Ash and I celebrated. Ash LOVES when you sing Happy Birthday~ He bounces up and down and gets so tickled by it all. (Of course, I don't know how to put the pics in order).

Hard to believe he is 1 !

It's hard to believe that this baby has turned into a wonderful, wild and very happy one year old already! Here is Ash on his birthday at 5:30 a.m. He wakes up at that time and he and I clean the playroom to get ready for the kids. He loves having all the toys to himself. He is now walking six steps before landing on his butt!! He is very much a morning person!

I just love this scarf.. good thing I don't have one or I would wear it~

This scarf reminds me of my Grandmother Lillian. She would get a good kick out of it. In fact, when I saw the picture for the first time I thought of her instantly. We had such fun together. I miss her a lot today. Perhaps, she is near me or saying hi to me. I think of her most in the Fall. With her knitting a sweater or cap. Always bright lipstick that would stain her glass. When I was younger she was delightfully naughty with me. My Grandparents would come every 6 months or so from Canada and spend the Winter with us. I was always intrigued with the way my Grandmother would hold her cigarette. So elegant to me, like in the movies. Countless times Mom would catch me taking a puff of a cigarette or drinking a cup of coffee and we were both so busted. Most of the time Mom would laugh it off but twice she was not happy with us both. We giggled so hard!

I remember most the one time we were smoking in their camper and we thought it was my Grandfather coming and we were drinking coffee as well and Mom came in and she was so mad ( I can't stop laughing) and she didn't say a word. She picked up my Grandmother's cigarette took a huge puff and sat it down and looked at us both and walked out. We had NO idea what to say. My Grandmother went after my Mom telling her she shouldn't be smoking! It was hilarious and we all laughed.

To this day I watch Murder She Wrote and I love Lawrence Welk as my Grandmother Lillian and her mother, who lived on our land for while, and I would watch Lawerence Welk. I would eat some junk food that my Nana or Grandma would smuggle to me, and Grandma would smoke and Nana would suck on her endless supply of green Vicks cough drops.

I even miss Nana too. She and I got along good but we had our fights. I got in trouble for calling her "an old bat" and that took a few weeks for Nana to forgive me and gosh, all the stories, like when Nanna opened the door to the gas man and one long dropping boob was popping right out of her moo moo dress and Nana was all pissed off because she didn't need any "damn gas" and had no idea her boob was hanging freely in the wind. Hysterical. And how she wouldn't eat spaghetti because her dog had worms once and it reminded her of that and she would throw up if she saw spagehtti and she could not smell for some reason and I would buy her perfume for years and every one would laugh and no one told me that she couldn't smell. I was pissed at that one. Ah, the memories. So, why this picture brought up so many memories I don't know but I guess a scarf boob does it for me.

The good ole days. I sure miss them. My life is so different from "back then". It's like it never happend.

We can wish... right.....Happy Friday~

Some illustrations for my book

I have been busy with my book. Rueben is a great guy. We have good conversations and it seems he understands what I want when talking to him but I am not too pleased with what he is sending to me. I am very musically artistic but not in the drawing sense and I seem to like my scribbling of LB better then Reuben. I have found several other illustrators and am waiting for them to present their work to me to see if I like them. This is what Rueben sent me. He reminds me more of Calvin and Hobbs type cartoon artist and that isn't my thang. And it's hard to tell someone what I like when I can't draw it. So, back to Barnes and Nobles to look for more cats to show him what I am thinking.
